If you are new to flash or perhaps not very confident when incorporating it into your work flow then this day is for you.

We will start with the basics of flash and how to create beautiful natural looking light.

Throughout the day we will predominantly be working with just one light. You will be amazed how so much can be achieved with a single flash unit.

We will look at how to use flash as a fill light, how to incorporate it with surrounding ambient light for perfect balance and how to use flash in an outdoor setting.

We will be working with the wide range of Profoto equipment and lightshapers from the Profoto ecosystem, so it’s the perfect opportunity to get hands on with the equipment to increase your confidence with this intuitive kit.

If you are a flash user but feel stuck in a rut when it comes to lighting then join us for a great day of shooting.

Starting with just one light we will explore motivated light and light patterns. We will then build up our sets with additional lights to add more dimension and atmosphere to our portraits with the use of gels.

We will also look at high speed sync when working outside and creating the perfect balance of natural light and flash.

We will be working with the wide range of Profoto equipment and lightshapers from the Profoto ecosystem, so it’s the perfect opportunity to get hands on with the equipment to increase your confidence with this intuitive kit.

One to One Mentoring

If you would rather learn directly from Hannah or you want to cover a mixture of subjects from lighting to the business of photography then a one to one session may be what you are looking for.

There is no set agenda for these days as you can tell Hannah in advance what it is that you wish to cover. If you wish to bring a friend or partner to this day they would be very welcome.                                                                                           Half Day £450          Full day £850      (Models are included for lighting demos.)

After two long years we are so excited to announce that we are holding our first workshop again and it’s a different kind to what we have done before.

This time there is no specific breakdown of what will be taught on the day. Instead we are inviting a maximum of six attendees to our St.Albans studio with our model, Natasha, who will change multiple looks throughout the day.

You can tell us what it is you want to learn or the things that you struggle with and we will create the day around your requirements. We like to think of it as a day where you come and shoot with us and learn as we go. You can ask us anything from lighting, posing etc all the way through to business and marketing. Whatever you want to know, we will gladly help.

You can also let us know if there is any particular equipment from SONY or Profoto that you would like to try out and we will do our best to ensure we have it on site for you.

There is NO EXPERIENCE LEVEL REQUIRED so whether you are a seasoned professional or a complete beginner, there is no limit to who can attend.

We hope that the day will be very relaxed and enjoyable for everyone. More like a day coming to photograph with friends and learning at the same time.

INTRODUCTION TO STUDIO LIGHTING - ONE DAY COURSe

If you are struggling with your lighting or are new to the world of studio photography then join me for a fun and informative workshop. If you are on a budget and don't have much gear, do not worry. I will show you how to shape and sculpt the face with just one light using every light shaper I own in my studio. This will allow you to decide which modifiers and which style of light suit you best before you make any additional purchases.

Below is a breakdown of what we will cover on the day.

• Lighting modifiers. Umbrella or Softbox? White or Silver? We will explore all the options and what you need to use to achieve the results you require.

• Quality of light. Hard vs Soft.

• Light placement and distance to your subject - what this means for your images.

• Light falloff and changing a background colour with light.

• The five general lighting patterns and how to sculpt a face.

• We will have a model to demonstrate all techniques in person and for you to photograph.

This workshop will take place in my studio so you can see exactly how I work day to day with the space that I have and how I deal with any limitations and difficulties. Classes are fun, relaxed and with endless tea, coffee & biscuits available!

creative LIGHTing & posing 1 day WORKSHOP

This course takes you from standard flat lighting setups to more advanced techniques to create shape and dimension. Starting with one light we will work our way up to a five light setup. We will also look at posing and directing your models with confidence.

Below is a breakdown of what we will cover on the day.

• Both male & female models will be provided so we can explore everything from corporate headshots to lighting for beauty shots and fitness modelling.

• Directing your model and communicating with confidence.

• Posing to flatter everyone - the little tricks which drastically improve your results.

• Lighting to create dimension and form. What modifiers and lighting patterns are best for which subjects.

• multiple light setups from one light all the way to a five light setup including gels and smoke.

To enjoy this workshop it's probably best that you know your camera and have a basic understanding of studio lighting. The workshop will take place in my own working studio. If you wish to join us just send me an email or give me a call.

SONY & PROFOTO STUDIO EXPERIENCE DAYS

Join Hannah Couzens in her London studio to get hands on with the latest cameras from Sony Alpha and Lighting from Profoto. This event is specifically designed for people who wish to try shooting with the Sony Alpha system or Profoto lighting to get hands on experience using the equipment.

New Dates coming in 2019

There are two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. You will able to use the equipment to shoot with models in the studio to really put the equiment through it's paces. 

Sony and Profoto will be on hand with a range of equipment for you to shoot with and to answer any questions. Hannah will also be helping with setting up your cameras and studio lighting setups.
